Weather for the first Saturday of Spring was quite pleasant considering the past very windy weeks. As we wind down our 2024 weekly activities of running and walking at Willandra it is good to see competitors are still achieving good times and even PB’s.
Not yet 9 years old, Thomas Dziubinski managed to break his 1k 9ys record ! We think he may have managed some low flying over the very hard packed ground to record a time of 4:04. Well done Tommie.
The next four places in the 1k were the regular Bryant family, young brothers Hudson and Spencer and parents Lauren & Matt.
2k distance was also well represented by another very regular family of four, the Astin-Briggs family. 10yr. old Ashleigh was first across the line in a good time. Younger sister Hayley and mother Jodie both stepped up to the 2k this week and managed it well. However 4th. member of the family, Joshua managed a good time in the 3k coming in first after overtaking his young sister and mother.
Very keen on improving his time was young Henry Tait who placed 2nd. in the 3k and achieved his 2nd PB in two weeks. A great effort.
A very enjoyable afternoon tea was a fitting conclusion to Week 24.
Some information to all members concerning our final winter events on Saturday 21st September.
A short Annual General Meeting followed by presentation of some Awards will be conducted after our runs and walks.
To end the activities for the day, Willandra will host a light evening meal in appreciation to Victory members, families and individuals, for a very successful and enjoyable year of 2024.
