The afternoon of Week 17 certainly would have to be one of the strongest wind gusts that Victory Runners have experienced. However we were able to conduct events despite the cold winds.
With safety in mind we had the start / finish on the creek flat which was very well protected.1k contenders did 3 laps of this area being an approximate distance of 350mt per lap.
Young Jai Burbage took line honours with Ashleigh Astin Briggs not far behind. Think the 15 who selected the 1k enjoyed running through the finish a couple of times.
Considering the cold strong windy gusts we congratulate those who completed their 2k ,3k and 4k events by sticking to the 2k and 1k course.
After the conclusion of the activity a very well-kept secret was presented to Jan Gibb in the form of a large Birthday Cake and some very tasty afternoon tea. Words cannot express the pleasure received from this unexpected event, especially receiving many, many 85th. Birthday wishes in the company of much loved Victory members of all ages A very big THANK YOU to everyone!! You are all very special and part of our extended family.
Tuesday 23rd July is a big event for 3 of our young girls, Annie Dziubinski, Cailin Burbage and Cleo MaCarthur will be competing in the NSW Primary All Schools Cross Country Championship in Sydney. On Wednesday 24th Bridget Fairs will also be competing in the Secondary Schools Championships.
This is great honour for the four girls who have worked hard to qualify for selection. .The experience will be great and we know they will all give their very best effort
We look forward to Week 18 on the 27th July. Willandra and Victory Runners are always willing to welcome visitors. Start time 3.00pm.
