Irregular westerly wind gusts with pleasant sunny breaks set the scene for 34 competitors on the start line for Week 14 activity of running and walking.
Not a lot of improvements, time wise were noted, but not surprising after so many PB’s from the State events a week earlier.
1k distance had the most competitors, 9yr old Zali Wilson crossed the finish just ahead of sister Lulu and did improve her 1k time by just 1 second. Probably knowing her sister was just behind helped!
It was great to have eight 2k walkers being the next distance with a good field of contenders with Bob Redenbach taking the lead, finishing first in a good time.
Our fastest 2k running competitor was young Annie Dziubinski who set a great time last week for the distance, still managed to run her second best 2k time. Great effort Annie despite the hindering wind!
We were very pleased to welcome newcomers Yasmin Evans and her young son Chase who chose the 3k distance and crossed the finish in 1st & 2nd. A very good effort for their first run.
4k Distance was also very light on re competitor numbers, however Cristine Suffolk who holds the Best 4k time on Record for her age, set back in 2021 50 – 54yrs 18.56. However, two years later and 2 years older Crissy ran 18.59, a PB for this year Well done Crissy, considering the wind and so few competitors it was a great effort.
Look forward to running and walking again Saturday July 1st. Week 15. As it is a new month, we will also have a new quote and some afternoon tea.
