The westerly winds greeted runners and walkers as they gathered at Willandra for week 3 activity on Easter Saturday. Despite the windy conditions we congratulate the following five members who are our ‘Improvers of the week.’
7 year old Solomon Grimston flew home in the 1k to better his time by 19 seconds, a great effort from this young lad. Bronwyn Coulston in her second run over the 2k distance managed to better her time by 8 seconds. 3k distance, also a parent, Anthony Corsaro improved by over 2 minutes as did our 4k senior competitor Frank Stevens. Our fifth improver, and keeping a balance for the ladies was Alice Parnell in the 2k walk, who crossed the finish just under 20 minutes.
A very special thanks to Lorraine and Frank Stevens for their Easter Bunny duties of donating and hiding some very attractive Easter Eggs for our youngsters to discover when they finished their activity. Great excitement and chatter on the start line was quite evident. Naturally the children were keen to start the hunt. Possibly this contributed to more contestants in the 1k distance than normal!! However Lorraine had made sure there were enough eggs hidden to cover our numbers, so no one missed out, even adults who enjoy the occasional chocolate. Many thanks again Lorraine & Frank, your generosity and hiding skills much appreciated.
Victory Runners would like to congratulate four of our members who will be competing for NSW in Brisbane at the Australian Junior Track & Field Athletics Championships from Thursday 13th. to Sunday 16th. April. We hope the following members, Evie Hill, Joel Harlor, Laylah Connelly and Bridget Fairs will enjoy the great competition and benefit from the experience. Victory is very proud of their efforts and dedication to reach this level of competition in their chosen events.
Looking forward to Week 4 next Saturday. New and interested families & individuals, along with visitors to the area always welcome to join us for a 3.00pm start of all distances available.
