Perfect weather conditions were experienced for participants at Willandra for Week 3 activities.
Young Cailin Burbage was first across the line, setting herself a good 1k time, changing from the 2k in week 1. First 2k finisher was Tori Hill earning extra points for a 20 second improvement. 8 yr old James Wilson also set himself a good 2k time finishing behind Tori. Lone walker this week, Julie Harrison finished the 2k very relaxed.
Some competitors in distances over 2k started their event on a ‘minus’ or ‘plus handicap’ just to add a little more interest. Ayden Spicer managed to get through the field and finished in first place in the 3k just ahead of new member 11yr old Olivia Oke, with backmarker Freya Robinson – Mills finishing 3rd.
4k participants were down in numbers this week, however this did not deter our winner Linda Hastedt, who managed to improve by over 1 minute, earning the title again this week ‘Improver of the Week’, Well done Linda.
However, the 6k also produced improvers, namely Razz Morgan and Paul Jennings both reducing Week 3’s time around 25 seconds. Jon Schol messed up his 6k time by running another 1k, nevertheless definitely improved. Full marks to Jon & Razz for keenness as they were on their way to Canberra to compete in a 10k event on Sunday organised by Sri Chinmoy.
Many thanks to Evie Hill who volunteered to be ticket handler for the afternoon. Evie was competing at the ANSW Short Course along with seven other Victory members on Sunday at Dapto.
This event being the first Winter State Championship certainly attracted more competitors than anticipated. So much so that ANSW had to unfortunately limit the number of spectators to comply with covid health rules.
Victory Runners wish to publically CONGRATULATE the 8 members who competed. We are very proud of the excellent results they all produced in extremely competitive fields across all ages.
