Brave Victory competitors experienced the winter weather for Week Seventeen on Saturday 13th. July as windy Willandra threw out the challenge with extremely cold gale force winds.
The Monthly quote for July …. “If it doesn’t challenge you, It wont change you”. (Fred DeVitto) was quite applicable as runners and walkers were certainly challenged and should be very proud of their efforts in such difficult conditions.
Due to low numbers and the weather conditions, some competitors chose a shorter distance so handicap wasn’t applied for some distances.
However Section 2 of the 4k distance the sealed handicap was applied for points & positions which did have some very close finishes. Line honours went to Josef Pichler, with Stewart Sim and Razz Morgan finishing 2nd and 3rd. and to top it off all three managed to improve their times! Cousins, Cam. Harrison & Patrick Ozolins had a good challenge finishing 4th. & 5th. on the sealed handicap with just four seconds separating them. Laura Prince finished on paper just 10 seconds later, closely followed by Kirsten Pichler with young Alyssa Sim placing 8th. followed by Di Court. Reuben Pichler was first home in Section 1 of the 4k with Jon Schol scoring second place points for a good time in the wind.
Sealed handicap was also applied to the 3k Distance which was contested by three young lads, Joel Harlor, Ayden Spicer & Bailey Newham and youngest member of the Pichler family, Johanna, who also ran very well to improve her time and place 2nd. Great effort Johanna.
Angela Sim, who had already walked 6k earlier in the day, wisely chose the 2k Walk. Louise Harlor was first home in the 2k run with Emily Burinaga taking out second place. Sister Lexie was first home in the 1k distance with Amelia Sim 2nd. and Holly Matthews 3rd.
The D’Ombrain family holidaying in Sydney took advantage of running in the Georges River Festival of the Feet event on Sunday 14th. July. All three entered the 3k event with just over 200 all age male and female entrants. Blake had a great run and finished in a time of 11:04 to place 5th. overall and second in his age category. Sister Hailey finished just behind her brother in 6th place in 11:14 and was the second overall female and not surprisingly won her age category. Older sister Maddison placed 27th overall in 13:50 and a creditable seventh in her age category. Congratulations to all three for these excellent results.
