Week Thirteen – 15th June

Another great day weatherwise welcomed Victory competitors for Week 13 at Willandra on Saturday 15th June.

Once again it was great to witness so many runners still managing to improve their times. Eight year old Ashley Spicer had already run in the Kiama Classic Fun Run during the morning and still managed to run a good time in the 1k to place first. Lulu Wilson & Joel Harlor were second and third and both improved their 1k times trying to catch Ashley!

The 2k was a great race between our fast improving boys foursome. Joel Harlor, Bailey Newham, Ayden Spicer & Cohen Matthews all managed PB’. Well done boys!  Courtney Harrison had a great run in the 3k to improve and win.

Not to be outdone by the boys however, mum, Ros Matthews and Razz Morgan improved their 4k times for second and third place, just not quite enough to overtake Paul Jennings who took line honours for Section 2 just behind Crissy Suffolk who was first in Section 1.  Paul is almost back to his best time time before going on holidays.

Pam Mason in the 6k also looked very impressive and should do well in her age category in the 6k at the XC Challenge on Saturday. Natasha Spicer ran well in the 8k, having entered the women’s 10k event for Saturday. Kevyn Davis will run 6k and Irwin Burbage 10k having accepted the challenge as well, for the men’s events.

Congratulations to two members, Freya Robinson – Mills and Joel Harlor who ran very well at their schools state XC carnivals during the week. Both qualifying to compete at the All Schools in July. We are very proud of this achievement.

A gentle reminder for Saturday 22nd , please remember to join us on our home course with many other like minded individuals and families, for a great day of cross country running.  Our photos above depicts a few of our members in uniform, who will be either competing in the Fun Run, Age Challenge events or assisting with a variety of tasks necessary for running the event.

Please also remember donations of home baked ‘Goodies’ for Victory Runners stall which will be located between Jack’s Mobile Coffee Bar and the Willandra Canteen.

The Canteen and BBQ will be operating all day, plus a Jumping Castle, Kev’s Poultry display and arrival of our ‘secret’ animal, are added attractions for this Annual Waratah Run Series ~ 2019.
