Week Eight – 13th May

After weeks of above temperature conditions for autumn weather, forty Victory runners and walkers attending Week 8 at Willandra appreciated the much cooler air that greeted them on Sunday morning.

Due to the celebration of Mothers Day our weekly quote was aimed at these very important people.      “Life doesn’t come with a manual, it comes with a mother.”

It was interesting to note three females were our ‘lucky place card’ recipients this week. Place numbers were Angela Sim 25th overall, and in the process improved her 4k time, another mum, Hati Onsel 17th.and last number drawn was 1st place which went to Karlee Symonds, training with her guide over the 1k.distance took out line honours.

The ‘secret time’ this week was won by our only runner over the 6k distance, the very consistent Eva Moeller – Duhme. The time had to have four consecutive numbers. Eva not only had the four numbers but also they were in perfect order with a time of 43:21. Well done Eva, who also improved her 6k time by 7 seconds !

We are also proud of some younger girls who will be competing at the District Primary School cross carnival on Friday 17th at Willandra, having gained selection from their school carnivals. The two Sim sisters, Alyssa & Amelia, Jobson sisters, Mia & Addison and Selin Onsel and Bella Rose. Enjoy the competition and do your best girls.

We are also extremely proud of young Hailey D’Ombrain who has only run once at Willandra but has competed twice in Athletics NSW events in Sydney as a Victory member.

Her first run was in the 3k open fun run at the Waratah Series St George Classic at Ramsgate on Saturday 21st April. Hailey placed 21st. overall from 72 competitors and 6th female in a time of 12:02. Saturday 5th May she entered the 2.5k fun run at the Waratah Series Sydney Ten event at Homebush Park and finished 3rd in the U/12 girls event in a good time of 9:56. Well done Hailey.

Before the run on Sunday, members were able to view a photo of the Victory Runners uniform design and colours of running singlets, crop tops & shorts. All agreed the design and colours, royal blue & orange were quite attractive. We wish to encourage members to place an order as soon as possible so correct sizes can be purchased.

Victory Runners and walkers will again line up to run or walk the distance of your choice at Willandra on Sunday 20th. May at 10am. New and interested people are always welcome to come along.

The following Sunday May 27th. we plan to have a luncheon together after the run and therefore encourage everyone to come prepared to stay for some food and fellowship. Please mark this on your calendar now.

Please Note:  Apologies for Week 7 results being a week late. Due to a very busy week with four cross carnivals at Willandra time just ‘ran out’. Re the ‘secret time’ for Week 7 – no one time qualified !
